Case study: Deptford Station

Deptford Station is London's oldest continuous-operating station. The carriage ramp is the last remaining ramp of the three Futuristic - Deptford station from the high streetoriginally built in London in the 1830s. Following Communities and Local Government funding, it will be brought back into use for pedestrians.

The Grade-II listed carriage ramp, immediately adjacent to the tracks, will be restored with the arches underneath transformed into cafes, creative businesses and shops.

The station will be replaced with an innovative, high quality modern glass building designed by Brown & Pletts Architects. It will be surrounded by a public square, providing pedestrians with direct access to Deptford High Street, the market and the Albany.

Deptford Station will be the main public transport interchange for a new development at Convoys Wharf, a 16 hectare site along the waterfront which is potentially the largest scheme in the borough.
