Managing the Marshes
The Managing the Marshes programme aims to restore three degraded and fragmented grazing marsh sites at Erith, Crayford and Dartford Marshes. This includes:
- protecting wildlife and biodiversit
- public access improvements
- providing information and signage
- management of water levels, and
- measures to reduce envirocrime.
River Cray Restoration Strategy
This programme aims to restore and enhance degraded areas of the Rivers Cray and Shuttle. Projects include:
- encouraging biodiversity
- improving access
- flood alleviation
- education
- measures to reduce envirocrime and
- increasing community participation.
Recent work has included:
- the removal of invasive species
- footpath improvements
- bank repairs
- graffiti clean ups
- tackling fly-tipping
- the recruitment of a river keeper and
- local volunteer river keepers.
