Thames Gateway and the Olympics

London Borough of Bexley

The London Borough of Bexley is situated on the River Thames between Greenwich and Dartford, at the heart of the Thames Gateway. Bexley is served by three frequent mainline services - to London Bridge, Charing Cross and Cannon Street stations - providing 30 to 35 minute services into central London.

The Invest Bexley board is the local regeneration partnership for Bexley established in 2006. Invest Bexley's Regeneration Framework provides the vision for local regeneration activity that will shape physical, social and cultural change in the Borough over the next ten years and beyond.

The Invest Bexley board has identified seven priorities for regeneration and creating sustainable communities:

  • secure new public transport links
  • promote desirable housing for mixed communities, producing around 4000 new homes by 2016
  • develop quality community infrastructure
  • improve local skill levels
  • encourage high value jobs, creating over 6000 new jobs by 2016
  • enhance green space
  • ensure effective project delivery.
