Case study: Lifelong Learning Centre

Lifelong learning centre under construction mid 2006The Barking Lifelong Learning Centre is the keystone project of a flagship scheme to transform Barking Town Square which will create new residential, office, retail, and leisure facilities and a quality public space in front of the Town Hall.

The Lifelong Learning Centre will be a new landmark within the town centre designed by the architectural firm Allford Hall Monaghan and Morris.

The Lifelong Learning Centre will provide education and training opportunities linked to the public service areas of health, education, social care and administration.

The Centre will provide public library services alongside accessible and integrated learning provisions from basic skills to higher education and job referral and brokerage services.

It will be run by a partnership of London Borough of Barking and Dagenham (LBBD), University of East London and Barking College.
