I am delighted to take this opportunity to wish Hindu, Sikh and Jain communities in Britain a very happy Diwali. Diwali - the festival of light is a special time for many, a time to join together with family and friends to celebrate the conquering of good over evil.
Diwali's message of positive reflection, unity and optimism for the future is one that resonates with people of all faiths and none. In sharing the celebration of Diwali we are also able to see the way in which faith communities enrich our multi-cultural, multi-faith British society.
