Summary

This report studies the requirement for each local planning authority to prepare a statement of community involvement (SCI). These are a statement of a local authority's policy for involving the community in preparing and revising local development documents and for consulting on planning applications.

The report also aims to highlight best practice and case study examples and highlights alternative ways of maintaining and improving public awareness of planning applications and for engaging the community in the consideration of planning applications.
