This Guidance deals specifically with design issues relating to planning for town centres and some of the main tools available to secure the implementation of town centre planning policies and proposals.

It supports Planning Policy Statement 6: Planning for Town Centres (PPS6) which sets out the Government’s policy in England on planning for the future of town centres and the main uses that relate to them.
