Summary

Planning Policy Statement 23 (PPS23) is intended to complement the pollution control framework under the Pollution Prevention and Control Act 1999 and the PPC Regulations 2000. This replaces Planning Policy Guidance Note 23: Planning and Pollution Control (PPG23) published in 1994.

Note: The above publication was issued by our former department, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM). ODPM became Communities and Local Government on 5 May 2006 - all references in the text to ODPM now refer to Communities and Local Government.
