Summary

A technical report, published in July 2001, explaining how the Hedge height and light loss guidelines were originally developed. It discusses the rationale underpinning the calculations used to assess whether an evergreen hedge is blocking too much daylight and sunlight to neighbouring properties. A subsequent Review of guidance on hedge height and light loss of the guidelines in 2004 amended some of these principles and the detail contained in Hedge height and light loss .
