Summary
The objective of the report is to assist Waste Planning Authorities (WPAs) to prepare their development plans (Waste Local Plans), taking into account international and national waste policy. The aim is to provide guidance on those aspects of waste management planning which are most appropriately dealt with at the regional level, and those dealt with by individual WPAs. The strategic policies should provide the framework for the provision of waste management facilities to manage waste. The guidance provides examples of good practice for the development of such policies.
