Summary

On 13 December 2006, the Code for Sustainable Homes - a new national standard for sustainable design and construction of new homes was launched.

This technical guidance manual is the April 2008 version and underpins the publication The Code for Sustainable Homes: Setting the standard in sustainability for new homes that was published on 27 February 2008.

This technical guidance sets out the requirements for the Code, and the process by which a Code assessment is reached. It aims to make gaining a Code assessment as simple, transparent and rigorous as possible.

A summary publication: Code for Sustainable Homes: Summary of Changes to the Technical Guidance April 2008  (see link on right) which details changes between the October 2007 and April 2008 versions has also been published.

Previous versions of the technical guidance are now out of date and therefore should no longer be referred to.
