Summary

This Circular draws attention to amendments to Approved Document L1. The Amendments, which were approved on 21 March 2005, come into effect on 1 April 2005, subject to the transitional provisions referred to in paragraph 10 of this Circular.

The amendments have been made in pursuit of the Government's commitments made in the Energy White Paper and at the Better Building Summit, after consultation with bodies representative of the interests concerned.

The purpose of this Circular is to:

• announce the approval and publication of the amendments to Approved Document L1 and draw your attention to the changes it makes
• explains the transitional provisions.
