Section 60 of the Food Act 1984 provides for a local authority who maintain a market to make byelaws for market days and hours; prevention of obstruction ; authority to use space; for maintaining cleanliness; for prevention of spread of fire; for preservation of order; use of water taps; animals and livestock.
As the legislation requires the local authority to consult the fire authority, draft byelaws should be accompanied by confirmation that this has been done.
