Summary

The Local Heroes booklet was produced for the Local Heroes awards event held on 10 January 2005. The event was attended by the then Home Secretary and Rt Hon Gordon Brown, MP, Chancellor of the Exchequer and where run by the Civil Renewal Unit. The Awards celebrated 68 people who have made a real difference to their communities by getting involved and tackling local problems.  Their stories which are illustrated in this book show how much can be achieved when people get together in their communities and work together with public bodies to make life better.
