Summary
Having received proposals from a number of local authorities to move to unitary local government, on 5 December 2007 the Government announced which proposals would be implemented. An Impact Assessment was undertaken to support the Government's final decisions on restructuring. This document, together with the Structural Change Orders for Cornwall, Durham, Northumberland, Shropshire and Wiltshire were laid before both Houses of Parliament at the same time.Order
