Summary

This consultation paper seeks views on proposals by the Government for minor changes to the way the Right to Buy scheme works, for inclusion in its forthcoming Housing and Regulations Bill.

The proposals would not affect the terms under which social tenants can buy their homes under the Right to Buy scheme.

Instead, they are designed to reduce regulation, widen the range of options that landlords can offer to assist their leaseholders, improve the administration of the scheme, and clarify interpretation of the Right to Buy rules.
