Summary

The Eco-towns: Living a greener future consultation ran from 3 April 2008 to 30 June 2008 and sought the public's views on the vision for eco-towns and the shortlisted locations proposed.

Over 12,000 consultation responses were received from a diverse spectrum of contributors. Respondents commented not only on specific locations, but on an array of issues including air, water, and greenspace quality, transport initiatives, and employment arrangements. The report makes explicit how comments received in the April consultation have influenced eco-town policy, the constitution of the Planning Policy Statement, and the nature of the next round of consultation.

This document was updated on 3 March 2009 to include a revised list of respondents.
