Summary

In February 2008 a project group was set up to advise Communities and Local Government and Ministers on the detailed remit, location and governance arrangements for the National Tenant Voice. Professor Steve Hilditch was appointed as the independent chair.

The project group comprises representatives from the three national tenants' organisations and representatives of key housing stakeholder bodies. It consulted widely on its proposals through eight stakeholder events attended by over 1,000 tenants, and inviting written comments.

The Project Group published its Executive summary - Citizens of Equal Worth (below) and a full report. Communities and Local Government Ministers have accepted its recommendations, and we are working with the Project Group on the first stage of their proposals - to set up a National Tenant Council.
