Summary

Ruth Kelly, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, announced the launch of the independent Cave Review of Social Housing Regulation on 14 December 2006.

The review, headed by Professor Martin Cave, was tasked with establishing a clear set of objectives for the regulation of social housing to underpin any new regulatory system, present options for reform and make recommendations about institutional arrangements. It will report to ministers in Spring 2007.

The review team issued a call for evidence with a deadline of 16 February 2007. They would like to thank all those who responded. This document contains all the evidence received by that deadline or in the following week, except evidence from respondents who asked for it not to be published.

If you have any comments on evidence sent in by any other person, the team encourages you to comment on our forum at:
http://forum.communities.gov.uk/cavereview

Further evidence or comment that is longer or for the Cave team's attention only, should be sent to:
cavereview@communities.gsi.gov.uk
