Summary

The latest data measuring DSO 3.5: Percentage change in average weekly earnings in Primary Urban Areas were released on Wednesday 20 January 2010. This was done according to arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

The release covers the data for the Primary Urban Areas and the rest of England for 2008 and 2009, including revised data for the baseline period 2007 and 2008.

For the baseline period 2007 to 2008:

• 26 Primary Urban Areas (out of 56) had an increase in average weekly earnings above the 4.6 per cent increase for England.

The latest (provisional) data for 2008 to 2009 shows:

• 28 Primary Urban Areas (out of 56) had an increase in average weekly earnings above the 1.8 per cent increase for England.
• This represents an improvement compared to the baseline period, in terms of the number of PUAs demonstrating a level of increase greater than in England overall.
