Summary

Using 2007-08 Citizenship Survey data, this report presents statistics on formal and informal volunteering, including who volunteers (looking at differences by gender, age, ethnicity, disability, socio-economic group, education and region), the activities that volunteers do and the kinds of organisations they help. It also covers charitable giving, looking at who gives to charity (at differences by gender, age, ethnicity, socio-economic group and income), the most common methods of giving, and the average amount given.

It is one of a series of annual reports from the 2007-08 Citizenship Survey. Other reports cover Community Cohesion, Identity and Values, Empowered Communities and Race, Religion and Equalities.
