Summary

The latest national statistics on the forecast figures of local authority capital expenditure and receipts in the financial year April 2009 to March 2010 was released on 1 July 2009 under arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

The key points from the latest release are:

• Capital expenditure in England is forecast to rise to £22.1 billion in 2009-10 from 2008-09, a year-on-year increase of 15 per cent.
• Capital receipts are forecast to rise to £1.7 billion in 2009-10 from 2008-09, a year-on-year increase of 21 per cent.
