The latest national statistics on the 2nd provisional outturn estimates of local authority capital expenditure and receipts in the financial year April 2007 to March 2008 was released on 18 September 2008 under arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.
The key points from the latest release are:
- The underlying trend in capital expenditure (excluding an exceptional event) shows an increase of 12 per cent, from £16.3 billion in 2006-07 to £18.3 billion in 2007-08.
- Local authorities in England estimated their capital receipts to be £4.0 billion in 2007-08 compared with £3.7 billion in 2007-08, an increase of almost 8 per cent.
