Summary
The latest national statistics on theĀ final outturn estimates of local authority capital expenditure and receipts in the financial year April 2007 to March 2008 was released onĀ 20 November 2008 under arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.
The key points from the latest release are:
- The underlying trend in capital expenditure (excluding an exceptional event) shows an increase of 12 per cent, from £16.3bn in 2006-2007 to £18.2bn in 2007-2008.
- Local authorities in England estimated their capital receipts to be £4.0bn in 2007-2008 compared with £3.7bn in 2006-2007, an increase of 9 per cent.
