Summary
Elections have been an important means of appointing local people as community representatives onto New Deal for Communities Partnership Boards, providing opportunities for the widest possible engagement with local people and conferring on successful candidates the legitimising effect of the democratic process. This report examines the evidence available on the impact of a range of contextual and process factors on turnout for NDC elections.
The findings and recommendations in this report are those of the consultant authors and do not necessarily represent the views or proposed policies of Communities and Local Government.
