This assessment has been commissioned by the Equalities and Diversity Unit, as part of a programme of race equality impact assessments (REIAs) designed to help the department to meet its duties under the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000. It focuses on the FiReControl project which will reduce the number of control centres in England from 46 to 9 as part of the Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) modernisation agenda.
