Summary

The Government has assisted deprived neighbourhoods through the New Deal for Communities (NDC) Programme, launched in 1998. It is designed to encourage delivery of local services in a coordinated way to meet local needs, and aims to narrow the gap between these 39 areas and the rest of the country. NDC activity is subject to detailed evaluation.

This report presents the findings on interventions and outcomes under the theme of crime and community safety.
