Summary
The paper develops an analytical framework for considering the economic linkages
between cities and argues that there are three relationships that play a key role in
determining the nature of these linkages:
- First, the link between local employment and earnings
- Second, the link between local employment and the cost of living
- Third, the migration response to differences in real wages between locations.
