Summary

This report is about strengthening the UK's growth capacity in future global upturns. It uses evidence from competitor countries to demonstrate how stronger regional cities could add more cylinders to the UK's economic engine and provide more space for London to further develop its unique global city role. The report contains an action plan for strengthening productivity and the urban renaissance in the major regional cities, as the essential foundation for progressive improvements in the performance of all regions. (Section 1).
