Building Division Research Documents 2006-2007

The research has continued to support the established aims of the Building Regulations Research Programme to:

  • develop sound scientific evidence in support of reviews and amendments of the Approved Documents
  • represent and promote UK interests in the development of international codes and standards referenced in the Approved Documents
  • keep abreast of new technologies or design solutions to ensure that the Approved Documents are kept in line with technological progress
  • steer future development of the Building Regulations as a whole with the aim of making them more user friendly and cohesive.

The scope of the programme supports the development of performance standards for the design and construction of buildings including new build, some refurbishment and alteration work, and change of use to existing buildings where this involves modifications to building design.
