Aggregates Provision in England 2001-2016

The national and regional guidelines for the provision of aggregates in England, 2001-2016, published in June 2003, provide guidelines and forecasts for the provision of aggregates. It also indicates how the guidelines should be taken into account by the Regional Planning Bodies and Mineral Planning Authorities in the planning process (in the preparation of Regional Spatial Strategies and Mineral and Local Development Frameworks) for the provision of aggregates, and outlines arrangements for future monitoring and review.

The First, Second and Third Monitoring Reports outline the monitoring and review of these guidelines by examining recent trends with regards to the demand for aggregates, including recent trends on construction activity and consumption of aggregates. The first three monitoring reports indicate that there is no requirement to revise the aggregates guidelines.
