The Citizens Foundation have today launched new guidance for local authorities on how to set up citizens days. The guidance offers a range of advice, examples and useful contacts to help them in exploring how activities such as - volunteering projects such as fixing up the Local Park, theatre workshops, and exhibitions on the heritage of the local area - can help in illustrating what local people have in common and bringing together people from different backgrounds.
Attending the launch Hazel Blears said;
"Strong, confident and cohesive communities are centred on citizens who have the skills, knowledge, confidence, opportunity and desire to play their part."
Copies of theĀ guidance are available from the Citizenship Foundation. See: www.citizenshipfoundation.org.uk/main/resource.php?s367 (external link).
