National Register of Social Housing (NROSH)

The National Register of Social Housing (NROSH) is a system that is being developed to collect social housing data at individual property level directly from Local Authorities (LAs) and Housing Associations (HAs).

NROSH will provide a range of data on each individual unit of housing owned or managed by LAs (or ALMOs on behalf of LAs) and HAs or other providers of subsidised affordable housing.

It will provide a range of data on each individual unit of housing owned or managed by LAs (or ALMOs on behalf of LAs) and HAs or other providers of subsidised affordable housing. Its purpose is to provide a better evidence base for housing policy by providing statistics which are standardised across the whole sector, are frequently updated and can be easily produced for any geographical area.

A Getting Started Guide: How to supply your data to NROSH was published in July 2008 by the Housing Corporation and Communities and Local Government.

NROSH meets the requirements of Policy Action Team 18 (PAT 18) in relation to social housing and selected data, aggregated to Middle Super Output Areas, will be published on the Neighbourhood Statistics Service website. This section explains the system and the data to be collected. It will be accessible to local authorities, housing associations, regional government and researchers.

At Friday 22 February 2008, NROSH data has been received from 183 landlords.
