Local government pensions

Communities and Local Government is working to provide a secure, modernised statutory pension scheme for firefighters and local government employees in England and Wales. 

These web pages contain information for those administering the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) but will also be of interest to members of the public and others who want details of the scheme or about other topical issues relating to retirement and pensions in general. In 2008, the Workforce Pay and Pensions Division took on responsibility for local government pay and workforce issues, including equal pay issues. Information about the Firefighters' Pension Scheme and related issues can be accessed via the link on the right.
