The LGA, IDeA and Communities and Local Government each have a homepage for the Innovation Forum, introducing the work of the Forum and linking to the main pages held on the IDeA website. The links below will take you to the relevant IDeA pages.
The Innovation Forum was created in 2003 to promote dialogue between central and local government and its partners, on new ways of working to deliver better services to local communities - its members are local authorities that achieve excellent status in their CPA. The work of the Forum is of potential benefit everywhere as the learning from pilots will be shared with the rest of local government and its partners.
Many of the Forum's members are seeking to develop, explore and test new ways of working to deliver improved outcomes through a number of projects across a range of delivery and policy areas. The Forum has also developed a 'Sounding Board' role, which provides local government with an opportunity to contribute to central policy development in its early stage. At Sounding Board events the proven capacity of the excellent councils also provides for central government a valuable resource to draw upon in developing new policy around shared local and national priorities.
See What's New for the latest news on the Forum.
See Forum Activities for more details of the projects and for details of past events and upcoming and recently held Sounding Boards.
See Newsletters to view current and previous issues of the Forum's quarterly newsletter.
See Useful Documents for the Forum's Business Plan, and its information pack, which gives further details of members, projects and the way the Forum operates.
The Forum is supported by Communities and Local Government who manages the interface with central government, LGA who co-ordinate the involvement of leaders and particularly the group of leaders who represent the Forum for planning purposes and the IDeA who provide support to particular work-streams and ensure learning from the Forum's activities is communicated to the wider local government audience and informs improvement activity across the sector.
