The 'Digital Challenge' - providing the opportunity to create a world class exemplar of a "wired up community" - was launched on 7 December 2005.
Ten national finalists who stepped up to take on the digital challenge - to create a world class example of a "wired up community" - were announced on 12 July 2006 by Communities and Local Government Minister Angela Smith (see news release, linked right).
The winner of the 2007 Digital Challenge was announced on 13 March 2007 (see news release, linked right).
The challenge is to use technology to transform the face of services, including local and central government services, to better meet the needs of local communities - including the most disadvantaged.
