Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO)

On 6 April 2006 mandatory HMO licensing came into force across England. Landlords whose property is classed as an HMO should read on to find out how this change affects them and their tenants. Licensing will raise the standard of accommodation for people living in HMOs.

On 9 April 2008 Housing and Planning Minister Caroline Flint launched a new review aimed at improving the management and conditions of people living in Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs).
