Each topic homepage contains all available publications relating to it eg, statistical releases and reports down to individual data tables. The data tables are grouped in sets with each table given an unique number. The Live Tables are regularly updated and should be used in preference to any paper publication. All of the tables are updated when the data becomes available. The data are for England and by financial year unless otherwise stated in the title.

You can also access data by selecting the Live Tables on the Housing Statistics homepage. The Survey of English Housing and the English House Condition Survey have further sets of data tables.

Detailed notes and definitions relating to the tables can also be found within each topic area.

All data sources are quoted in the tables. Any administrative returns (or forms) that are used to collect data from local authorities can be found in the Data collection and forms section. Forms can be monthly, quarterly or annual. Together they are used in the compilation of our housing statistics tables.

All tables/charts are available in Microsoft Excel Version 7 format (with the file size) to download. If you have a problem downloading any file, please email: housing.statistics@communities.gsi.gov.uk, and we will supply you with a Comma Separated Value (CSV) version.

It is our principle that all our publications are made available on this website. Where there is a demand, paper copies are also produced. An example is our annual compendium volume of Housing Statistics.

Finally, for ease of reference, we have provided an Index of Data (MS Word 1.95 Mb), which is an A-Z of housing statistics/data found on this website and other main external organisations where appropriate. The index is generated based on names of key variables.
