A selection of images representing communities.
This compendium volume of housing statistics is published annually (usually mid December) and covers all aspects of housing in England.
It is based on a selection of the latest, most frequently used data tables (live tables) across a wide range of housing topics which include: dwelling stocks; housebuilding; housing renewals and disabled facilities grants; homelessness; social housing sales and household projections.
Also included are housing market data such as house and housing land prices, mortgages, household income and rent, and mortgage payments. Where consistent data are available, tables also cover Great Britain and the United Kingdom.
This publication serves as a useful reference document. It provides a sample of the most basic or useful information from a wide range of available housing statistics. It is free to download or read on the web. A printed copy is available by subscription or it can be purchased from The Stationery Office.
Since this publication is based on a snap-shot of selected live tables at the time, the data shown may be out of date or have been revised. Users are advised to visit the live tables section once they have found what they want as it contains the latest available figures by topic area). Alternatively, if you know or have a specific item of interest in mind, you can use the Index of Data to look for available data under the name of that item or variable.
Housing Statistics Summary series
The Housing Statistics Summaries allows the publication of statistics or results of special interest that arise or become available at different times. It is an occasional or ad-hoc publication for publicising new and notable statistics or results arising from an interesting housing topic, or to enable the results of a regular publication to be made available sooner. Examples include: interim mid-year household estimates; preliminary findings or results from the Survey of English Housing; specific housing market issues; and more recently, a private rental index. Over 20 summary reports have been published to date (some web only, but paper versions are indicated where available).
Housing and Planning Key Facts
This leaflet contains a digest of the most basic or commonly used housing and planning statistics for quick and easy reference purposes. These include: households and population projections; housing stock; housing stock changes; vacant dwellings; house prices; social housing lettings; rents; local authority rent arrears; sales of council houses; homelessness; planning statistics; decent homes including overcrowding; and energy efficiency.
It is published quarterly (in February, May, August and November) and was originally intended to make quarterly data available as they arose (with the introduction of the live tables, this no longer applies). As well as being published on this website a printed copy of the latest and earlier editions of the leaflet are available on request from email below.
