National statistics on Statutory Homelessness are released on a quarterly basis under arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority. The latest statistics were published on 11 June 2009 and provide figures for the first Quarter (January to March) of 2009, showing local authorities' activities under the homelessness legislation of the 1996 Housing Act.
The Statistical Release, along with the accompanying set of national and regional tables, and key data at local authority level (in supplementary tables), can be obtained by selecting the appropriate quarter below. Further data relating to Statutory Homelessness can be found in the live set of tables.
Note: All reports before Quarter 3 2002 were included as part of the press notice and are no longer available on this website.
1. Key information about local authorities' discharge of their duties under homelessness legislation is collected on quarterly P1E returns. All returns undergo thorough validation to ensure that data are as complete and accurate as possible and typically at least 98 per cent of authorities provide data. Estimates are made for missing returns, along with imputations for any incomplete data, and summary results are published in a quarterly Statistical Release by Communities and Local Government, in accordance with National Statistics Code of Practice.
