Local Authority and Registered Social Landlords Identification Codes

The Local Authority and Registered Social Landlords Identification Codes spreadsheet is designed to be used by data providers as a look up table for populating those NROSH fields where a code is used to identify a housing organisation ie for DPCode, LALocationOfDwelling, OwnerRef, ManagerRef and OnwardLeases.

It is divided into 3 sections;

  • Local Authority (LA)
  • Registered Social Landlords (RSL)
  • Arms Length Management Organisations (ALMO)

Each section is listed in Name order and also by Code order.    

The list is accurate as at 1 June 2008. Although LA and ALMO codes are stable, RSL codes may change - eg where new RSLs are formed. If a RSL code cannot be found in the list, data providers may find the following link useful:

This link can be used to identify new RSLs (or where the identity has changed eg through merger etc), which RSLs are located in a given local authority area and other useful information relating to an RSL.  

Important: Although the registered number is given for each RSL in this link, these codes are not in the format required for use in NROSH submissions. To get the correct NROSH identity, the letters 'HA' should be added as a prefix to the code. The LA and RSL Identification Codes spreadsheet contains RSL codes in the correct format for NROSH.

For Private Owners, the code PL0000, and for Other Non-Statutory organisations (and those unable to be identified at the present time), the code TBC should be used where appropriate.
