Statistics about empty homes

The Department publishes annual statistics on the number of empty home (vacant dwellings) in England, broken down by local authority area.  This information is collected from all local housing authorities in England as part of  the Housing Strategy Statistical Appendix (HSSA).

To access the most recent statistics on vacant dwellings visit the HSSA (Housing Strategy Statistical Appendix) 2004/05  page and open the MS Excel file HSSA 2005 - Sections A-G. Vacant dwellings data can be found under section 6 of the file.
