Housing

Homelessness and health

Ill health is a key cause and consequence of homelessness, in particular of rough sleeping. Furthermore, addressing the health needs of homeless people is often a key action in addressing their homelessness more generally. Provision of appropriate accessible healthcare models is a challenge to local areas, in terms of bringing together the multiple strands of health and social care which need to coordinate around the individual needs of any homeless individual.

This page brings together guidance produced by Communities and Local Government, often in partnership with the Department of Health, on the area of health and homelessness.
