About the Research and Statistics Division
The Research and Statistics Division provides research and technical advice in support of the Fire and Resilience Directorate by:
- Providing expert advice to policy-makers on technical matters
- Commissioning and undertaking research to inform policy decisions relating to the operations and practices of the Fire and Rescue Service
- Commissioning and undertaking research in support of civil resilience policy
- Maintaining the national fire statistics function
- Doing statistical work to underpin and evaluate policy
- Where necessary, providing the evidence to underpin technical guidance for the Fire and Rescue Service
