Durham University Research programme

University of Durham / Communities and Local Government Research programme

The International Centre for Regional Regeneration and Development Studies (ICRRDS) at the University of Durham was established with an endowment from the Tees Development Corporation. In 2005 the Centre became the Centre for the Study of Cities and Regions - CSCR www.dur.ac.uk/cscr (external link).

The Centre undertakes innovative theoretical work and rigorous empirical research on a range of urban and regional issues. It has links with policy communities within and beyond Europe and seeks to inform policy debates within its surrounding region of North-east England. It brings together researchers from a number of disciplines but is particularly closely linked with researchers in the Department of Geography. The mission of the Centre is to be an internationally-ranking centre of excellence, led by research and focused on issues of urban and regional change and development.

The Centre maintains close links with central government and has undertaken an extensive research programme for the Department comprising seven research projects. All seven projects are now complete and the reports published. They are available from the links below.
