How do I get involved?

What to do if you are an employee interested in taking part in an exchange.

Are you interested in taking part in an employee exchange?

Interchange opportunities can occur in a number of ways:
  • You might be approached directly by an outside body with which you have regular contact, for example a local authority or trade association
  • Some organisations contact the Department directly, to arrange potential employee exchange opportunities.
You could also take the initiative yourself by:
  • letting your line manager and relevant senior managers know of your interest. With their approval, you can then start building up contacts and arranging visits with potential organisations
  • looking in the specialist press - some jobs in local authorities are advertised as being available on secondment
  • applying for advertised posts and asking the employer if they would consider taking you on a secondment basis.
