Improving Opportunity, Strengthening Society
The Home Office launched a cross-government strategy for race equality and community cohesion in January 2005.

Ethnic Minority Employment Task Force
The Department for Work and Pensions oversees the Ethnic Minority Employment Task Force which has the objective of seeing that no-one should be disadvantaged in their employment prospects because of their ethnicity.

Improving the Life Chances for Disabled People
DWP will also be responsible for taking forward the strategy Improving the Life Chances for Disabled People, which will develop the opportunities available to disabled people, both children and adults, to improve their quality of life.

Commission for Equalities and Human Rights
The CEHR will have a basic remit to promote equality of opportunity, challenge discrimination, promote human rights and promote citizenship and a cohesive society. Communities and Local Government became the sponsor department of CEHR in May 2006.
