Communities and Local Government Publication Scheme

A guide to the information Communities and Local Government publishes.

You can access information which Communities and Local Government publishes proactively in accordance with its Publication Scheme.

The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000 requires public authorities that are subject to the Act to adopt and maintain a Publication Scheme and to publish information in accordance with the Scheme. Our Publication Scheme meets our obligations under the Act and follows the model scheme designed by the Information Commissioner. Communities and Local Government is committed to making its information available to the public as part of its normal business activities.

Our commitments under our Scheme are to:

proactively publish, or otherwise make available as a matter of routine, information, including environmental information, which is held by us and falls within classes of information or statements set out in the Scheme
specify the information which is held by us and falls within the classes in the Scheme
proactively publish or otherwise make available as a matter of routine, information in accordance with the items set out within the Scheme
produce and publish the methods by which the information in the Scheme is made available so that it can be easily identified and accessed
review and update on a regular basis the information we make available under the Scheme
produce a schedule of any fees charged for information which is made available under the Scheme and
make our Publication Scheme available to the public.

Information made available under our Scheme will normally be available through the Communities and Local Government website and can be accessed through the links contained within the Scheme. For people who need information in alternative formats we will take reasonable steps to make the material available and to meet our obligations under disability and discrimination legislation and any other legislation to provide information.

Information held by us that is not published under this Scheme can be requested in writing and its provision will be considered in accordance with the provisions of the FOI Act.

Classes of information

You can see the classes of information contained in our Scheme and access the guide to information available in each class. Information published under our Scheme will generally be available through our website for a period of one year unless otherwise stated in the guide. The classes of information in our Scheme will not generally include information which is protected from disclosure, is in draft form, or is no longer readily available. Archived information previously on our website is available from the website of The National Archive.
