Improving Opportunity, Strengthening Society
Launched in January 2005, the Improving Opportunity, Strengthening Society strategy sets out the Government's commitment to create strong, cohesive communities in which every individual, whatever their racial or ethnic origin, is able to fulfil his or her potential through the enjoyment of equal opportunities, rights and responsibilities.
The strategy has two closely linked aims to:
- achieve equality between different races; and
- develop a better sense of community cohesion by helping people from different backgrounds to have a stronger sense of 'togetherness'.
