Holocaust Memorial Day

Holocaust Memorial Day is about:

  • Remembering all the victims of the Holocaust and Nazi persecution
  • Raising awareness and understanding of the events of the Holocaust
  • Highlighting the relevance of the Holocaust for all citizens of 21st Century Britain
  • Educating about the dangers of racism, antisemitism, victimisation and genocide

The Day is marked each year by hundreds of local events and activities held across the country. Schools and colleges are encouraged to mark Holocaust Memorial Day and education resources focusing on the year's theme are produced for use in assemblies and classroom time.

More information about Holocaust Memorial Day can be found on the official website.

We work in conjunction with the Department for Education and Skills and a wide range of individuals and organisations involved in Holocaust remembrance and education and other related issues.

The National Commemoration  of the Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) will take place on Sunday 25 January 2009 in Coventry. For further information visit the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust.
